To be real, according to the wooden horse
Is the greatest gift and yet
The greatest mystery
The greatest moment of discovery
When I know for sure
That I am real

I have become real in the watching
In watching you live and watching you die
No, watching is hardly adequate
In the watching I remain stagnant
It is in the being a part of you
In the living and the dying
Then I am real
